Why Mental Health Matters

At the Matthew Mark Foundation, mental wellness is central to everything we do. Many of the youth and families we work with face unseen struggles—and we believe outdoor adventure, mentorship, and community can help restore hope, balance, and connection.

The Mental Health Benefits of Biking

Reduces Stress: The combination of exercise and nature helps lower cortisol levels, allowing riders to feel more relaxed and centered.

Boosts Mood: Physical activity releases endorphins, the body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals, which can improve mood and help combat feelings of anxiety and depression.

Increases Focus and Resilience: Mountain biking requires concentration and decision-making, helping riders build mental focus and resilience as they navigate trails.

Fosters Connection: Our group rides and clinics build a sense of community and belonging, offering supportive social connections that are essential for mental well-being.
